Thing 4 - digital footprint.

I'm always quite conscious of the things that I do online and the digital footprint I leave behind.
I googled myself as asked but the only thing that came up was my Facebook page along with all the other Lynne Robertson's.
I do have Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram but the first thing I do is check all of my privacy settings and I make sure that I only add people that I know.

The video that I watched was very powerful indeed and just goes to show that you really need to be careful about who you are talking about online and what you are saying. In my line of work (childcare) I have had quite a few parents try to add me on Facebook but I've always told them that it is my company's policy not to!
This only safeguards myself as I know a few people who have added parents and they started messaging them about "nursery stuff" when really they should have been phoning in to speak to the manager.

As I've said before I'm not the greatest with technology but my Husband keeps the computer and laptop up to date with antivirus and firewalls.
I also regularly go on to my device maintenance on my phone and run a scan.

I also have online banking and do shop online so always make sure that my passwords are "strong".

While doing this "Thing4" it has made me think and I'm quite happy that my digital footprint is manage very effectively.

Lynne.

  1. Hi Lynne,

I enjoyed reading your blog and you sound very like me my husband also takes care of all the technology security. I thought your blog raised some very good points and I have also had to say no to adding parents on Facebook which was hard to do but the right thing.
